About the Author

Lawrence Deary is a children’s picture book author with a passion for sparking curiosity and wonder in young readers. “The Boy Who Talked to the Moon,” his debut picture book, was born from a deep belief that children deserve stories that honor their imagination and invite them to see the world as a magical, endlessly fascinating place.

He writes for families, educators, and librarians who believe that a great bedtime story can open a child’s mind to the wonders of the night sky, the beauty of nature, and the power of asking questions. He originally wrote this story for his grandchildren based on his curious grandson, who was fascinated by pictures of the moon and stars in the night sky.

Lawrence is retired from a career in human resources administration and consulting, and is a US army veteran. In college he was a journalism major prior to being attracted to human resources. He resides in Michigan. He holds degrees from Wayne State University and Central Michigan University.

He hopes that every child who reads his book will look up at the moon a little differently, and will be inspired to be forever curious.
